Mouton Cadet 2005 Bordeaux
(10 months ago)Plenty and almost 'pinotish' in it's flavors. Good ripe fruit with hints, very subtle of strawberry and cherries (red ones this time). Not too dry. Good feel on the palette. Stellar price to quality!

(9 months ago)Very blah. Was a pop and pour situation, but evolved only slightly over time. Nice mouth feel and decent structure, but nothing stood out. Basic red fruit, some cherries going on. No bite, no funk, no sweet, no sour, no fun. Tasted like a mediocre American Merlot for the most part. meh.

(7 months ago)Nose strikes me a bit menthol-like and minty. Cherry is probably the strongest flavor component; but, overall, this wine is pretty light. The aftertaste is pretty strange, and has a weird spiciness that reminds me of mild buffalo wings.

(6 months ago)This wine has a nose predominantly of rotting fruit with black cherry, and a hint of star fruit. Color is of dark purple that changes to ruby then to a pinkish-clear near the edge. This wine has long legs. The flavor of this wine is of a gentle oak followed by either dirt or gravel. I did not taste any fruitiness in this wine. This is the first wine I've encountered with a gravel taste, and I would have to say it was pleasant. The texture is dry or grainy feeling. The tannins are almost unnoticeable, this wine seems very light.----------- ------------------------------------- ----- The day after opening this wine it changed a bit, the nose of this wine now smells of mint, strawberry shortcake, oak, some cherry and some rotten fruit. It tastes of cherry, oak, and graphite. The texture has changed completely from dry to almost creamy; however, eating Tuscany soup with this wine may have influenced my take on texture a lot considering Tuscany soup can be oily. All the latter translates into my recommending to let the wine breath for a while before consuming it, and that it may be better with oily food.

(3 months ago)When I first opened the bottle I poured some into a glass for a pre-decant sniff. Gasoline or nail-polish remover! it kinda hurt my nose and made me cough. After decanting for a while it got better, good enough to have a glass with dinner but that was about it.

(2 months ago)Nose-chemically, with some red fruit and some oakiness...taste-cherries,with an awkward after taste--a little hot on the alcohol but overall nothing special. -Next day--the smell was like sour milk with some berries--not very pleasant. Taste--alcohol has toned down a bit..still some berries, but overall sort of awkward... do not recommend...
