The label on the bottle proudly declares that "the Ravenswood Vintners Blend adds the structure of French oak to the varietal's opulent fresh-plum persona, creating a multidimensional mouthful that doesn't pander to indiscriminating palates. Round and full with a spicy finish enhanced by notes of tobacco, leather, and vanilla, it's delicious upon release (though if you misplaced a few bottles in our cellar, you wouldn't be sorry five years from now)." I'm afraid my palate is still, alas, somewhat indiscriminating. The wine definitely offers a dark aftertaste, where the "notes of tobacco" really stand out; its flavor reminds me of smoking a good cigar out on the porch with some friends. I can't speak to the vanilla or the leather, but it's one of my most preferred, most reliable wines nevertheless.
