(about 1 year ago)Powerfully fruity with a candy nose, this wine tastes like drinking jam. Is syruppy on the pallate, sticky with strawberry/blackberry. Finishes clean.

(about 1 year ago)Strawberry & currents. Soft & mildly peppery. A bit short on the finish. Medium body. Nicely drinkable and a good value.

(about 1 year ago)Very interesting bouquet, fruity with a lingering aroma of smoke chocolate and leather. Very full sweet berries with a smokey woodsy undertone. Very nice long finish. Extremely smooth with little or no bite.

(about 1 year ago)I really enjoy the fruit packed nose of this wine. Solid mouth feel, no initial heat and minimal tingle on the tongue in comparison to the 2005. Drinkable right away although a big wine like this deserves its air to really shine and show some awesome complexity. Good stuff.

(about 1 year ago)Big fruit. I really like this wine. Tasted it right of the bottle and it was very tight. Decanted the wine for about an hour and a half and the flavors really came out. This could cellar for 3-4 more years easily. Nice wine.

(12 months ago)Wow! This stuff is like the perky cheerleader in high school that dotted the "i" in her name with a heart and drove a t-top Firebird...but it had a 6 cylinder engine. It's fascinating, fun, lively...but...kinda...perky...and therefore...kinda...well...fussy. My experience was with this Zin, chilled. Why chilled? No idea. It was my buddy's wife's idea. She's usually right about everything, but with this Zin...hmmm. Dunno. I let the glass warm a bit, let it breathe...and a new character emerged - the perkiness mellowed and the full flavor of the Jolly Rancher-esque fruit came out, deepening the wine's character (yeah, I know that sounds like a bunch of wino bullsh*t but it's Sunday, I'm tired and that's what came out.) It's a good buy at $15-20 - try decanting and serve at room temperature. Thusly served, I'd pair this Zin with tuna, mackerel, mild duck, pheasant - any meat that has flavor just south of a big medium-rare steak.
