winemaker's notes: 89% Zinfandel, 11% Petite Sirah. Kunde's 2003 Estate Zinfandel exhibits ripe boysenberry and cranberry aromas and flavors that finish with firm oak tannins... Grilled sausages and peppers, fresh greens topped with grilled chicken and skewers of grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon, all make for delightful food pairings with this fruit forward wine.

When you open this wine and smell the cork you notice an interesting thing - the cork smells as if it's been smoked (literally, like a piece of salmon), and it's not natural, it's definatly an added touch. The nose is somewhat pleasant, you get smokie, sweet, ripe, black and blueberry notes. On the palate dark fruit show up immediately followed by campfire smoke. It's rather one dimensional and the smokiness is to overwhelming. An average wine
