(about 1 year ago)nose of coffee and blackberries and a little toffee.Fruit foward wine with lite tannins that carry you through to the blackberry finish..nice finish in this wine as well. Paired very well with Vermicilli Meatballs Arbiata(spaghetti and meatballs with spicy marinara). good wine

(about 1 year ago)Good wine. Smooth, but not overly complex. More fruity than your standard run-of-the-mill Chianti. Not too tannic. Most importantly (for me at least) the beautiful Italian dirt still shows up and the terroir is present. Nice finish.

(about 1 year ago)This wine continues to humble me, a massive and explosive Chianti that just has such a great mix of new and old world flavors and the best finish I have seen in a $20 Chianti in a long time!

(about 1 year ago)This is quintessential Sangiovese. The nose suprised me with tomato paste, and hints of molasses and carob. This is full of really nice sour cherry, as well as some toasted rye, worm dirt, and lambs blood. The finish is not as long or as rich as I'd like, but offers hints of raspberry, chokecherry, and even PERIQUE that are difficult to find elsewhere. Tired as the pairing may be, this is really nice with a grilled steak, covered in freshly ground pepper. Oddly enough, after a bowl of G.L. Pease's exquisite Haddo's Delight, this tastes like Rasinettes. (For my review of Haddo's Delight, click here, and look for "wildebeest".) This is a really solid effort, and deserves nothing less than 89 points. And, because it edges its way into 90-point territory when aerated to perfection, I'll give it 89+.

(about 1 year ago)Bouquet: Sour Cherries, the most fertile soil ever! Hints of Tobacco and tinges of dark plum and blackberry. Flavor Profile: Unbelievably rich and complex without being overwhelmingly heavy. Touches of cherry, fertile soil, strawberries and fennel. A delicious wine. Absolute steal. Next to the Coviv Aglianico and Barolo I recently had the best red wine of the summer.

(about 1 year ago)Vegetal, milky, and funky aromas with red and black plums. Notable tobacco on the palate. Silky and fruity finish.

(7 months ago)A fruit bomb with lots of sour cherry and hints of tobacco. A bit lighter than what I expected after reading some of the initial comments on the wine. A decent effort but would prefer it with a few more years in the cellar.

(2 months ago)Disappointing. Very tight nose. Lacks body that I was expecting. Muted flavor profile, slight plum, lacks any complexity. This is a simple wine worth about $8. I had another glass of this wine the next day and it had opened up significantly on the nose which increased the enjoyment. Still lacking in flavor profile. Bump it up a point or two, but decant for a couple of hours.
