2001 Chateau d'Yquem
(over 2 years ago)Tasted this last week from a half-bottle. Only had 15ml but it was enough. Parker rates it a perfect 100 alongside the 1847 and 1811. The length of the wine was amazing - I could taste it 5 minutes later. Simply magic. http://www.yquem.fr/yquem.php?lang=uk
2001 Chateau d'Yquem
(over 2 years ago)The famed Chateau d'Yquem lives up to its reputation and more. It is a dessert wine, of course, but to eat it with dessert would almost be a waste (though I certainly would do it if offered the opportunity ;)). It is a dessert on par with the most incredible desserts in the world all by itself. This vintage is the best I've tasted yet, and it will definitely only get better with age.
2001 Chateau d'Yquem
(about 1 year ago)"Well what can you say about C D Y it rules, the wine was awesome, rich, massive and one of the longest finishes that I have come across. The apricots and lemons were bouncing around the room like they just didn't care. When and if you can ever have a CDY DO IT, or Bo Jackson will come to your house and make you regret it."
2001 Chateau d'Yquem
(11 months ago)The 2001 is the best Yquem in living memory. In the glass the wine is a striking golden colour with tints of green. After some period of decanting the nose comes forward in spades pouring forth honey and almonds, with cream and pineapples in support. The wine is magic on the palate with precision perfect acidity, totally alive and fresh with waves of taste sensations that make this wine so special. Hugely concentrated flavours of fruit. You know you are drinking something special and the graceful finish completes a perfect wine. Don't drink this wine yet, leave it at least another 10 years. Can happily age for 70 years. Hugely expensive $600+ and up. (SN 11/07)
