Ray's Station 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)So, if you read the little bit on the back of the bottle it talks about a sea captain who opened a “rough around the edges” tavern in the late 1800’s, and how this “broad shouldered” wine is named after him… Now, not to be mean here… but I’ve got to say that this is the most pansy-assed wine I’ve had in a long while. Don’t get me wrong… it’s not bad… but, seriously, this cab is about as machismo as a kitten napping in a flowerbed filled with pink flowers. It’s a total “new world” wine, so up front there’s tons of super ripe berry jam (this is a cabernet?), a bit of a flabby mid-palate, a hint of green pepper, and a heavy oaked finish. Given that bleak description it sounds like I’m totally panning the wine… but there’s something that’s “just enough” working for it—something in it is right, and did make it quite drinkable.

(about 1 year ago)Smells like maple syrup and black cherries. I love the smell of Cabernet Sav. Thick, nicely complex without being really sweet or sour. The smell was a lot like the 377. Unlike the 377 the taste was a disappointment. Initial rasberry, cherry flavor dissipates very quickly. The wine had no staying power and finished kind of flat. Checkout the other for a better flavor.

(10 months ago)No nose at all...no real fruit, no finish, not enjoyable and overpriced.
