tasted blind - wood crate on the nose along with more veggie/rosemary aspects, somewhat of light citrus, and a very "Zin"-like characteristics. Thought it could be Zin or Cab on the palate: spectacular balance, tannins, finish (coffee-like). Great California merlot though I don't think many would guess this as merlot tasting blindly. ...+ or - evals... Lost my notes on this so I am shooting from the hip. B&H winery sits atop a mountain overlooking beautiful Napa valley. This wine completely tricked me when I first tried it as it does not taste like a Merlot. Much more Cab or Zin-like. Taste: fruit bomb! Packed with dark berries and beautiful balance of tannins to finish. A hint of spice is what I think fooled me on identifying the grape. One of the best Merlot's I've had (second to any Shafer).
