1997 Bussola Amarone Vigneto Alto
(over 2 years ago) buddy icon syd 95.0/100
This is the No. 3 producer of Amarone behind Quinterelli and Dal Forno. This Amarone is classified as Vigneto Alto, something Bussola makes in special vinatages. 1997 is one of the best if not the best vintage ever in Italy. Had this wine in Venice at Al Pompiere accompanied by a sample plate of 5 cold meats, followed by a pork knuckle for Kim and a 'tagliata of beef' for Syd. The Amarone was superb. It is a huge wine - 16% alocohol, similar in punch to the Rusden Zinfandel in Australia, but much more integrated and complex. 180 Euros
