"Ripeness rather than varietal expression is the clear story here, but, while the wine is in some ways the very epitome of the slightly too fleshy, slightly too jammy, slightly too oaky school of winemaking, there is simply no arguing with its richness and its sheer sense of scale. We must admit to being attracted to that richness and can see this one succeeding as a partner to a well-seasoned pot roast." Connoisseurs' Guide 88 pts. The 2003 Darioush Signature Shiraz is a polished, graceful, yet substantial wine that will challenge both old and new world perceptions of what a Shiraz can be. This exceptional vintage combines luxurious, dark fruit and exotic spices from the old vines in our Ashley Vineyard with the elegant structure and minerality from our Estate Vineyard. Saturated flavors of wild blackberries and pomegranate, complemented by a spice-box of cinnamon stick, clove, white pepper and sandalwood incense, culminate in a silky finish that lingers on the palate for more than thirty seconds. The 2003 Darioush Signature Shiraz is an unforgettable, soul-stirring wine that will continue to evolve over the next decade. 1646 cases produced

2003 Darioush Signature Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Tasted 8/2006 in Mission Viejo, CA. This wine was awful. Very HOT and very AGGRESSIVE. Had to choke it down. What happened to this wine? Bad batch or way too early to drink. Overall, dark red/purple tinted paint thinner in a glass. When this happens in a $50 retail bottle of wine, never ever get it again.
