Had a strange sort of funkiness on the nose mixed with currant.Sensual anise on the front with a dry new leather acidity that attacks the front of the tongue. The finish is round with a cherry jollyrancher end. Great for the price.

This was an amazing wine for under $8. Spicy, fruity, with a nice long finish. No oak at all, absolutely perfect for my palate. It went deliciously with a homemade red-onion-and-blue-cheese pizza; I could see it being a wine we keep on hand for when we just want a good glass of wine with a book or the NY Times. Highly recommended.
