Chinon Les Chiens-Chiens 2004 La Noblaie
(about 1 year ago)This is a really interesting wine. Starts with some interesting mushroom, vegetable, locker room and wet rock aromas. Taste starts with the vegetables and really dry cocoa powder and then back to more mushroom types of flavors. Very long finish. Really a great bottle of wine for the "Old World" fan.

(about 1 year ago)Color: opaque, deep purple. Nose: dark fruit, slightest hint of straw and earth. Taste: light- to medium-bodied red with just the right amount of fruit for someone who dislikes new world fruit bombs. This drank like a very good table wine--not much complexity to it but very well-balanced and polished. This wine would pair well with just about any food that is not too powerful/spicy. Overall: very nice wine for the price. Recommend.

(about 1 year ago)Great color for Chinon. Powerful nose of plum, cherry, geranium, basil, and earth. Dry mouthfeel with geranium, plum and earth on the midpalate. Finishes tanic, herbal and earthy. Loved it with pizza.

(about 1 year ago)Loads of vegetables on the nose and a remarkable, very pronounced smell of cigar ash frame green pepper and tobacco notes. The body shows loads of tomato, cherry, iron, tobacco and raspberry. The finish shows rare meat, more ash and a note reminiscent of vegetable barley soup. I loved it but my wife did not.

(about 1 year ago)This smells _exactly_ like my slow cooked italian sausage soup: tomatoes, green peppers, savory/meaty scents. The vegetal notes carry over to the taste, along with chocholate covered raspberries and slight hints of that savory/meaty flavor throughout. Very interesting flavors.

(10 months ago)I felt like I was swimming in a vegetable basket- green pepper, broccoli, celery, chili peppers. I had to get used to the absence of fruit and accept the slightly bitter edge on the palate. Overall this wine a maverick worth seeking out for the experience.
