yellow tail shiraz 2006
(about 1 year ago)needed quite a bit of time to open up, fresh out of the bottle there was little to no aroma. bright acids and an exceptionally long finish.

(about 1 year ago)This wine had a strong taste and scent of olive to me. A little too much for my taste. Perhaps this would've been a nice wine to complement a Greek or Italian dinner. I'd be willing to give Yellow Tail another try, but probably not the shiraz.

(about 1 year ago)i tasted powdered sugar and cocoa powder... like a feathery cool texture almost - i was quite impressed with the middle taste and cool chocolate milk finish.

(about 1 year ago)Heavy oak aftertaste, berry acidic with vanilla middle, seems like a pasta wine. Worrysome past 1 glass

(11 months ago)Heavy Oak aftertaste. Not terribly pleasing. I found it far too overpowering for my tastes, at least alone without food to compliment. Perhaps with some food my opinion would be different. But I would not recommend drinking this without a meal.

(11 months ago)This wine may appeal to a lot of people because it's LOADED with vanilla taste!! I am really intrigued whether such a STRONG taste could come from the fruit and the oak only!! It screams artificial to me, but I might be wrong!!

(11 months ago)The color is dark with purple edges. On the nose of this wine I get spice, berries and light vanilla from the oak. On the palate I get dark berries and powdered cocoa. I don't pick up much of the vanilla or oak component as slightly suggested by the bouquet. The flavors in this wine are sugary and fake, not what you would typically find in a respectable red wine and the finish is bitter and short despite the lack of tannin. This is really just one step between that bottle of generic "soft red" and so many other red wines available at this price point that are more authentic.

(8 months ago)This is fake and syrupy enough to have at dinner with a whole group of non-wine drinkers but decent enough to finish after they leave.
yellow tail shiraz 2006
(8 months ago)vanilla and sugar. popular in bars in the area. better used as a cooking wine with steak or beef tips.
yellow tail shiraz 2006
(4 months ago)mild fruit taste in the beginning, peppery mid taste and a sourish olive flavor finish lingers. light tannin and acid finish. Not a complex wine, but fine for having with a meal, especially for the price.

(3 months ago)Dark red color, very acidic wine. Oaky, a lot of alcohol, maybe a little cranberry and vanilla. Citrus?

(2 months ago)strong unpleasant aftertaste, but ignoring that quite drinkable.

(about 1 month ago)Fruit fruit fruit! In the nose, in the taste. Very approachable wine, fun and unpretentious. Tannins are present but muted, and there's a noticeable hint of pepper along with blackberry and grape. A great everyday wine to enjoy.

(about 1 month ago)Probably one of the worst wines I've had since the last time my father offered me a glass of Franzia, fresh from the cardboard box. If I hadn't read the label, I wouldn't have known that this was a Shiraz. Has an overwhelimg flavour of alcohol with a slight earthiness. It amazes me how the same producer can produce a varietal that is so good (the Reserve Shiraz) and one that is so bad (the regular Shiraz). UPDATE: This wine is much better day two. I suggest that you uncork it, let it breathe, recork it and drink it the next day. I have found that sometimes it takes the edge off of shitty red wines. (I raised my rating to 74.)
