Purple Moon 2004 Shiraz
(over 2 years ago)An incredible Shiraz. Very smooth tasting, not nearly as harsh as most others I have had. Not overly flavorful, but not bland either. Hints of berry, with a buttery mouthfeel.
Purple Moon 2004 Shiraz
(over 2 years ago)Lured by the purple label I was. I should have been deterred by the Aussie-Noveau style. I've had a lot of wine in my days, but this one takes the cake... the burnt one that is. We opened this wine one night, not hoping for much as it's clearly not going to put anyone into sticker shock. I really have never tasted anything worse. I have nothing against "inexpensive" wines. I'm a frequenter of the Chuck when I can get my hands on it. If you see this one at your local TJ's, I'd stear clear. A light fruity flavor is overpowered by a sharp bite. This is not a crisp finish that I am talking about. We even let the wine aerate over an hour, and then even a day. The scary thing was that after a day, it tasted even worse if you can believe it; I know I couldn't. The light fruitiness was gone, and all that was left was the sharp harsh bite. I give this wine kudos; I never thought anything could taste so bad.

(over 2 years ago)This wine is true to what one would expect in a Shiraz: quite dry, aggressive tannins, nice firmness, rich currant flavor spiced with cinnamon and anise, lingering finish. Very nice for an inexpensive wine.

(about 1 year ago)Ok. Strongly fruity. A little spice, but also a little harsh. Just fine for the price.

(about 1 year ago)This shiraz is fabulously fruity and dry, a great combination. It is extrememly smooth and vibrant with a lot of blackberry and raspberry flavors. There was a even a subtle buttery undertone to it that sealed the deal for me. I will definitley be buying more of this wine and highly recommend it.
