Orogeny 2005 Sonoma County Green Valley Pinot Noir
(about 1 year ago)This wine has a great, transparent ruby color and a great aroma. It's a little more fruit-forward than a lot of pinot, but it's got a really good back of fine wood and earth to back aromas of dried cherries, blackberries, and a little bit of plum. It's medium-bodied with light tannin and a bright acidity, and would really match well with a light, earthy dish like a mushroom risotto, or a tender lamb chop. It could use a little more body to match with heartier fare, but it's excellent as is, and will drink well alone as well. Drink now.

(about 1 year ago)Sweet, well-defined cherries are the centerpiece of this ripe wonderfully continuous young Pinot, and, while creamy oak is everywhere apparent, it stays in service of fruit throughout. The wine is full, fleshy and nicely rounded in feel, and its balanced acidity brings a bit of brightness to its long, juicy, lightly tannic finish. Tasty now with savory pork entrees, it can only be helped by age, and it looks to reach its peak some three to five years by age. Great for the price!

(about 1 year ago)Raspberry and sour cherries, bell pepper and green olive flavors, wasn't too impressed with this one. Way overpriced.

(8 months ago)I found this wine at the World of Pinot Noir 2008 in Shell Beach, CA. Easily one of my favorites. Nice complexity and strong fruit flavors on the front palette. You can find this wine at BevMo.
