Stimson Estate Cellars 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)This has a broad, jammy nose packed with black cherry, plum, oak, and hints of vanilla. The taste is similar -- not remarkable but pretty good -- with mild tannins backed by a light acridness that may be the result of oak powder or oak chips used during fermentation instead of oak barrels. This wine has a somewhat watery mouth feel, which undermines my enjoyment of the taste. Drinkable, jammy, but unremarkable. ($12 1.5-liters Austin TX 2007)
