Casa Lapostolle 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)1st bottle tried: opened quickly with a full nose of berry. More restrained on the pallet with some mineral flavors. This is pretty good. 2nd bottle tried: Very closed on the nose with just a hint of dark fruits and a good deal of oak. The tannins dominate the pallate with just a little fruit coming through. Give this one time to breath as more fruit becomes apparent with time. This is most certainly old world in style. Not bad given the price.

(about 1 year ago)Great body and dominant nose of berries. Very good for the price. Anybody had cellared this wine? The back label claims it will hold for ten years, but I've never been so patient. Did anybody tried and want to share his/her experience?

(about 1 year ago)Scent of this wine in the glass introduces itself with a dark, full bouquet of almost too-ripe black fruits and oak. Oddly, I also picked up the scent of what I can only describe as a humid, summer storm in an orchard. I loved the smell of this wine. The taste was no less brilliant. The dark fruits and oak are the dominant flavors along with a slight grassy taste that I found to really compliment the total presentation. Certainly an absolute steal considering the low price of this wine. I'm moving this one to the top of my favorite Cabernet Sauvignons list.

(about 1 year ago)Minerals on the nose. Pepper and intense tannins on the mouth.

(6 months ago)Decanted for 2 hours before trying. Nose: Nose was pretty closed, but subtle hints of plum and earthiness. Palate: This wine brings some serious thunder for the price. The palate confirms the nose with Heavy amounts of smooth Plum with subtle bits of earth, vines, and terroir. Very Well balanced. Definitely some firm tannins, but the decanting smoothed those out. I have had $40-$70 California Cabernets which have not brought this balance or smoothness. Great wine for the price. Highly recommended.
