From the Cecchi website: "Chianti Classico is the flagship wine of the Cecchi family, which fully represents the family’s tradition and history. Even today it is the key player of the entire production. The estate has always believed in the Chianti Classico denomination, which is why it has implemented various research programmes. The aim is to deepen the technical knowledge, which will enable an optimum realization of its productive potential. The varieties involved in the vinification of Chianti Classico include 90% Sangiovese, the remaining 10% are Canaiolo and Colorino Toscano. The vinification process and ageing which is carried out in selected wooden casks, guarantee a well-structured, elegant wine, which permits our Chianti Classico to be superbly paired to roasted and grilled meats. It is characterized by an intense, ruby red colour, which tends towards granite with ageing. On the palate it is harmonized by a dry, full-flavour. On the nose it is full, rich and vinous, characterized by hints of violets (mammola?). Suggested serving temperature 18°C."

Cecchi 2004 Chianti Classico
(about 1 year ago)The wife and I drank this wine in celebration of our second anniversary. A full-bodied hearty wine that went great with the meatball sandwich we shared for dinner. For the price and the taste, I'd definitely go for this wine again.

(about 1 year ago)An unremarkable chianti, except that it sat in my refrigerator for a week after being opened and it was still good. I drank it chilled and warm (78F/25C) and it was good both ways. Don't put it away just because it's the "wrong" temperature according to the mfr.

(about 1 year ago)Dark purple and promising in the glass, very deep coloured Chianti. The nose was spicy, full and clean with slight tobacco notes and very fruity. The palate was a mess, unbalanced, soft tannins, soft attack all the way to the mid palate actually tasted watered down! Thin, insiped and a 2 second finish. Looked great, good bouquet but a total dudd on the palate. Give it a miss.
