(about 1 year ago)Nice berries, clean finish. The bottle was empty before it ever had a chance.

(about 1 year ago)Nice dark color. Very earthy nose initially, then some berries come through. First sip is quite pleasant. It starts out fruity, then transitions nicely to an almost smoky taste in the mid palate. The finish is smooth, with very little tannic bite that I have tasted in many wines at this price. I really did enjoy this wine, especially for the price! Another good wine from the Ste. Michelle Estates.

(10 months ago)In the store I had picked up a red diamond but exchanged it for 14 hands on recommendation by the wine manager - glad I took his advice. Very smooth, well balanced wine - great finish. Apparently this one is popular in restaurants. I can see why.

(2 months ago)Earthy nose, fairly high amount of alcohol for my liking (I don't like anything above 13% and this was certainly above that), not too much tannin or astringency, the finish was smooth almost chocolatey. Some tart cherry at first, then maturing into spicy/earthy/smokey. It had potential; maybe it was the wine, but maybe the noisy atmosphere of the restaurant didn't help me separate and distinguish flavors and sensations. Very nice accompaniment to a tenderloin with crab meat and Bearnaise sauce and a stuffed potato on the side. I had this wine at a restaurant on New Year's Eve and I always buy wine by the glass since my wife doesn't drink. This just goes to show that the priciest wine is not the best wine. This wine was good but not great, at 8.50 per glass.
