The Show 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)The Three Thieves strike again. This is a new one for me, concentrated and extremely fruit forward with nice but ultimately simple Cabernet character, this wine sports a nice iodine note and a bit of green pepper on the nose keeps it honest. Tannins are meek and mild, meaning this is one to drink now, but as far as what I would consider value wines go, this one is a standout. If the names Gott, Scommegna, and Bieler don't mean anything to you, they probably will soon.

(about 1 year ago)Color: Deep dark red. Blueberry/cherry, very fruity nose and hint of cinnamon or nutmeg. Taste: CREAM SODA! This is a very intriguing wine, like no other wine I've ever tasted. Serious vanilla flavor going on, some black cherry toward the end, but this is like drinking Cream Soda, so much so that my mouth/brain anticipates the carbonation. The body is curvy and voluptuous, great mouthfeel, silky and creamy, yet massive. Did I mention this tastes like CREAM SODA? It tastes just like riding around with a baseball card in my spokes at the jersey shore summer '84. Ding ding ding, on with the Show.

(about 1 year ago)Nice sharp taste, not too tannic, but at the same time not quite a soft tast either. Good drinking wine not made for aging it seems. Good wine for the price. Decent body, maybe if I did try to let it age a year or so it might get a little more body to it. But otherwise darn good wine!

(about 1 year ago)This is by far the best value in lower priced cabs I've had in a long time. This is a "drink it now" wine. It hit me with black cherries on the tip of the tongue , lots of "dried plum"(a kinder name for prunes), vanilla, and warm, spicy oak.

(about 1 year ago)Big, full flavor, but without all that oak you might think a California Cab would have. This could be your new favorite Cab.

(about 1 year ago)Great new world fruit but I think WAY over oaked. This wine tasted like clarinet reed soaked in grape juice to me.
The Show 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)A bright nose of caraway and fractional must, with a cigar smokiness throughout but a unassuming finish. Not the most complex. Our table of 8 was split 3:5 like:dislike, with the haters saying that it felt forced or contrived in the smoky characteristics.

(about 1 year ago)Excellent, smoky essence with hearty berry flavors. Very smooth and long finish.

(about 1 year ago)pretty good cabernet...i fell for the artwork on the bottle (a series of gorgeous block-prints), but the wine was also pretty good.
The Show 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)Creamy! Great, syrupy legs. Very smooth. For 12 bucks, unbelievable! I believe somebody else reviewed it and said CREAM SODA. That's it in a nutshell. Not a classic Cab, but a really neat wine to drink without food. I did smell pepper on the nose, but also raisin. On the palate - blueberry, blueberry, blueberry, and plum, and raisin/currant/cassis and a little cherry and more blueberry. Creamy, almost caramel. The CREAM SODA of wines - blueberry and raisin and plum and fig preserves and the right balance of sugar and acidity all evenly balanced for a strange and different wine tasting experience. A very unique wine experience. Not acidic at all. Not too sweet! Very laid back. A small amount of oak taste on the back end - but the oak is vague and veiled and not overwhelming. It's 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, the other 20% is merlot, cabernet franc, petite sirah, and petit verdot. You can't call it a fruit bomb. You can call it smooth. Try a bottle for 12 bucks. You'll either love it or hate it - I don't think there's any in between - I love it! If you get a bottle and you don't love it for drinking, re-cork it and save it for adding to a red pasta sauce. It'll take the bitterness out of a tomatoe paste based pasta sauce right now!
