The Aussie Salute is a blend of spicy Grenache, succulent Shiraz and a whiff of aromatic Viognier- a feisty combination that works wonders on the palate.

(about 1 year ago)The blend on this intrigued me, seemed exactly like my kind of thing, so I grabbed it. I was hoping for more Viognier influence on the nose, but it was totally Grenache. A whack of strawberry, raspberry and exotic spice on the nose. Oh well. First sip though, and I was very captured. Loads of flavor and really nice complexity for an $8 wine. Great Grenache and Syrah blend, but still feel cheated the Viognier got lost. I'm only complaining about that b/c I think my rating would have been higher, and may have gone down as the greatest QPR of all time had the Viognier had the expected impact on the nose. Overall, I would recommend this to almost anyone, and it went well with some spicy food I had tonight. This is not a new world wine or an old world wine, just great wine, and for $8, this is just silly.

(about 1 year ago)Really nice nose, worth trying it just for that - blackberry, espresso and mocha aromas with a little floral element. Flavor is a little skittles and a bit of fun. A nice Aussie blend worth trying and at $8 a good value.

(about 1 year ago)Nice nose, and definitely got the Espresso/Mocha/Chocolate mentioned above. Not horrible for the price point, but not a special wine. By my buds, the Shiraz was the dominant grape, as was hoping for more of the Grenache/Viognier influence. Did not pick up significant fruit notes either.
