(over 2 years ago)my friends and i believe this to be the BEST $10 bottle of red wine -- we've "blasted" through a case that we bought at the winery just a month ago......

(about 1 year ago)I was recommended this wine unsolicited by a wine store clerk - and so was immediately leery. At $10 on sale, he said they were going through their allotment the day they got it, sometimes in just a few hours. "Sure, I thought." But at $10, I had to check it out. It's got a great color going on for a 2004 - garnet, with a tawny tinge, and great clarity. The nose is heavy on black fruits, cedar, and pipe tobacco - it's very fruit forward, but with a great backup. The taste is mostly of fruit, raspberries and blackberries, and it is medium- to light-bodied and fairly tannic. It's got a nice acidity too. It finishes fairly long, and really smooth. So, if you're the clerk I talked to, I apologize for doubting you. This is a great $10 wine. Drink it with food (nothing heavy, like a steak - maybe a light tomato pasta?), or drink it alone. Drink now!

(about 1 year ago)I think acoxcae is right on with the taste profile. Definitely fruit-forward, an excellent everyday wine. It doesn't have the tannin structure to complement a hearty steak, but I'll tell you, I served it with lamb chops with a port-rosemary sauce and it worked pretty well. The fruitiness of the wine transitioned well with the port in the sauce. $10 - go for it.

(about 1 year ago)In my opinion one of the best wines in this price category widely available (NW).

(about 1 year ago)This actually drinks quite "light" for the grapes involved...i got a lot more floral notes than fruit, but the fruit was definitely there. Incredibly soft for such a hearty blend, although the tannins from the cabernet do come on the finish. It's a perfect wine for those who aren't a fan of heavy, tannic wines but aren't prepared to spend the money needed on a nice pinot noir. (yes, i realize pinots are quite different than cabs, merlots and syrah's but trust me on that) I poured mine with duck breast (with a plum compote) and it was an excellent match...pork tenderloin would be a perfect match as well.

(7 months ago)Good nose, had a cheery and chocolate feel to it. Taste was a bit harsh at the start, but after a day of being open it mellowed out and had good strawberry, chocolate and cheery tastes to it. A good wine all around
