The 2001 vintage was spectacular for Cabernet Sauvignon in Paso Robles. An unusually cool summer was followed by a warm, dry fall, allowing for true physiological ripening as the long season progressed into shorter days. This wine was crafted from a single vineyard planted in dense rows with a vertical shoot canopy. The fruit was fully exposed to the sun, resulting in even ripening and intense, fruity flavors. Very nice. Medium-bodied with soft and supple tannins, lovely flavors of ripe berries and a hint of pepper. Nice almost coffee flavor in the finish.
